Availability: I am available for software development contract work which can be performed either at my own home office/lab or at a client's office/lab. By providing my own work environment I can provide a customer with lower overhead expenses.
The Point-Of-Sale Business Application (POSBA) software was developed entirely by Quantum Blue Technology LLC. The Point-Of-Sale Business Application software was designed for the Microsoft Windows Operating System environment. The application software may be installed on one or more networked PCs (100 maximum) in order to provide multiple counter Point-Of-Sale (POS) Registers for cash and account sale transactions. By using a Distributed Database methodology the Point-Of-Sale Business Application can continue to take customer sales even during times when the Server and/or the Network has failed (See later for more details).
What makes our Point-Of-Sale Business Application unique? It uses a distributed database system.
Why is this important?
- -
Why is this a problem? Most Point-Of-Sale (POS) systems keep their inventory and other database information in a central location - usually on the POS Server computer system. POS Client systems access the central database on the POS Server in order to obtain inventory and price information - this process occurs with every sales item being entered into the POS register. If the Server or the Network hardware were to fail, every networked POS Client in the store would be unable to obtain inventory price information and would therefore be useless. Each POS Client computer system may be fully operational but without access to the Server databases it can not be used. At this point, the store owner would have to:
How does using our Point-Of-Sale Business Application help? The Point-Of-Sale (POS) Business Application uses distributed databases, and during periods when the POS Server and/or the Network hardware has failed, our POS Client cash registers can still be used by the counter staff to enter sales transactions just as they would under normal conditions. This, first of all, saves our clients the worry of what would happen if their Server and/or Network were to fail. It also saves our clients time and money because if the Server and/or the Network were to fail, our POS Client cash registers would still operate taking sales just as normal and no hand-written sales nor manual updates to the Server databases would be required.
The Distributed Database System What sets the POS Business Application (POSBA) product apart from other Point-Of-Sale software applications is its usage of a proprietary distributed database system. If any changes are made to the POSBA Server databases (eg. changing Inventory prices), the client systems detect that these databases have been updated and they are automatically download to their own local systems. If a subsequent POSBA Server hardware and/or Network failure were to occur, the POSBA Client cash registers would be unaffected and would operate as normal - inventory prices for each sales transaction would be obtained from the relevant databases stored on the client's hard drives. The counter staff could then continue taking sales while the server and/or the Network hardware was being repaired. Even if the repairs took several days to complete, the POS Client computer systems would record all the sale transactions for each day. When the Server and/or Network was once more functional, the POS Client systems would post the accumulated sales transaction information to the Server as normal. No hand written sales nor manual entry would be required.
